Why am i getting this email while i use Conflucence almost on a daily basis

Your Confluence subscription is currently inactive

Your subscription will be deactivated soon

Hi Vinay,

We haven't seen you use your Confluence app, on processexcellence.atlassian.net, for a while so we wanted to check in. Log back in to enjoy everything that Confluence has to offer.

Please note that if you do not start using your app, it will be deactivated on 2026-04-26. You will no longer be able to access this app once it has been deactivated, and any data associated with this app will be permanently deleted soon after. This will not affect other apps that you are actively using.

Log back in to Confluence

Cheers,
The Atlassian team

Hi @Vinay krishna

Welcome to the Community!

If you really are using Confluence regularly, then this email is worth checking but it does not necessarily mean your whole Atlassian site is inactive.

Atlassian’s deactivation emails are app-specific, so it can happen that one app on a site is considered inactive even while you are actively using other apps on the same site.

So the most likely explanation is either:
- you are active in Atlassian, but not in Confluence specifically
- or the inactivity detection is wrong and needs Atlassian support review

Hi @Vinay krishna ,

Most common scenarios:

  1. You actively use Jira, but barely touch Confluence

    • Activity is tracked per product, not per login.

    • So logging into the site every day and working in Jira does not count as “using Confluence”.

    • If you rarely open /wiki/ URLs, rarely view/edit pages or comment, Confluence on that site is treated as inactive.

  2. The email is about a site you almost never use

    • The email names a specific site, like xxx.atlassian.net.

    • Many people actively use site A today, but created/joined site B years ago and basically forgot about it.

    • In that case, this email only affects Confluence on site B. It won’t break Jira/Confluence on your other sites.

  3. It’s an old trial / sandbox / project site

    • For test/trial/project-only sites, if there’s no real Confluence usage for a while, the system marks it inactive, suspends the subscription, and after a retention period may delete the data.

To quickly chime in here.

You could simply create a new page, and this should reset the timer. That's how I usually bypass deactivation for some sites that are needed but not used for 1 or 2 quarters.

If you indeed are using this specific site and you're active in there, but you still receive these emails, you could reach out to the support team here and report this false positive behavior (just to avoid deactivation).

Even if it gets deactivated, as per data retention policies, you will be able to reactivate the app and not lose all your data.

Cheers,
Tobi
