I did an export of some confluence pages by clicking on Space Tools -> Content Tools -> Export -> XML -> Custom Export where I selected the pages that I wanted to export.
I would like to import this export into another confluence and select the Space where I want the pages to be restored. When I go to the Destination Confluence I go to the Confluence administration select Restore Confluence Data Choose the exported file and clicke on Upload and Restore. I get the error that a space with the key already exists.
I did not export an entire space but only some selected pages and I dont want to replace the whole space but rather import the exported pages into a different Space. Is it possible to do that?
You have hit on one annoyance with the space back-up and restore function - the space restore does not allow re-targeting the restore to a different space. And moreover, you have to delete any space with the matching key before restoring.
You could try editing the XML file to change the space name and key and see if that works. I have never tried this, so I would suggest experimenting on a development server.
The other option is to copy the pages you want to another temp space on your source server, then do the export and restore. Then move those pages once restored where you want.
Yes, it would be wonderful to have either a partial space restore/import, or to have a the ability to copy pages across Confluence instances.
