Why is this confluence page restricting itself regularly?

Hi,

I have a confluence page that has files added to it regularly, that periodically locks itself so that no one can see the page.

The editing link for this page still works when the pages is restricted, and the only way to unrestrict the page is to go to the editing link and save the page.

Hi Anjali,

I understand you have a page that intermittently won't render, then when you use the URL as described in Editing or Deleting a Page That Won't Render all you have to do is edit the page and then save it again and it will render.

Please let us know:

• When you edit the page, do you have to remove a page restriction before the page will render?
• What do you see in the browser when the page will not render?
• Does it matter if you try a different browser or which user tries to render the page? (Asking to try and narrow down the issue)
• What version of Confluence are you using?

While the page is still viewable, please:

1. Click on the ellipsis (…) in the top right-hand corner and select View Storage Format from the dropdown.
2. Copy the storage format and paste it in a code block on this thread.

This will allow us recreate the page locally to understand the contents of the page and see if it sheds any light.

Thanks for your reply, I've been waiting for the problem to occur again so that I can answer your questions.

• I edit the page by adding a space or something insignificant, not by changing restrictions.
• You do not have permission to view this page. Request access below, you will receive an email when you've been granted access. - [Request Access]
• I've tried Safari and Chrome, and this happens on many people's computers.
• Confluence V 5.10.2

There's no View Storage Format option in the (…) menu. The page does have 47 powerpoint attachments.
