Why does this licensing error message appears in the footer section of the latest version of the Confluence? "LICENSING ERROR - An error has occurred with your license that may impact the usability of this application, please contact us."

 Please advise.

Hi MD Noaman,

To better understand what is going on, maybe is a good idea you open a ticket with Atlassian Support. So, we can further investigate this issue.

Another thing you can try is enable Safe Mode to see if it works. The safe mode will disable all customizations that you have and might be affecting your instance. However, bear in mind you will need to restart your Confluence. So, if it is a production environment, I advice you to schedule a downtime window and have a backup of your Confluence.

Hi MD Noaman,

Since we need to have your logs to further investigate this case, I suggest you to raise a ticket with Atlassian, so the engineers can better understand what is going on.

Hi Renato,

Thanks for looking into this. The confluence instance I am using is not having an evaluation license. It is a commercial license and the key is not expired. As for the footer-content.vm Velocity template file I tried replacing it with the default Velocity template file as well, but it did not help. The license error message still appeared in the footer section after using the default velocity file. Kindly advise if there could be some other alternative resolution for this.

Hi MD Noaman,

Maybe your license has expired. You can check it going to Cog Icon > General Configuration > License details.

If it is a Evaluation License and it isn't expired, try to generate a new one and have a look if it works. If not, please raise a ticket with Atlassian Support.

Another reason might be caused by a customization of the footer-content.vm Velocity template.

It is described on this link. Please have a look.

Thanks for responding Christian, but I do not have Scroll office installed in my Confluence instance. Can their be any other reason for which this error message is displaying?

Did the message just show up after an upgrade? Maybe it's a bug after all

Do you have Scroll office installed? I think that might be causing your issue!

Cheers
