Why does CTRL-C doesn't work in a confluence article with embedded direct.io drawing

Andreas Mock September 5, 2019

Hi all,

after long search I found out that I can't file a bug in a narrative way, but have to ask questions here to the community. So, let's do it.

The last days we updated to version 6.15.8 of confluence (self hosted). We do have the direct.io-plugin installed which didn't hurt until now.

When I open an article with a embedded direct-io-drawing hitting CTRL-C after marking text does NOT copy this text to the clipboard. With any article not having a drawing embedded everything works like expected.

But, if I click on the embedded drawing and close the pop-up-window afterwards, normal CTRL-C behaviour is restored.

Before forgetting the question to the community: Why is that?

Best regards
Andreas

You mean draw.io, rather than direct.io?

Andreas Mock September 5, 2019

Hi David,

yes, you're right. I mean draw.io.

I tested this by adding a new, blank Confluence page and then added some text and draw.io macro (click "+" > Draw.io diagram). Then I selected text, click Crtl+c and it worked fine (I use Chrome Version 74.0.3729.131 (Official Build) (64-bit)

If these are not right reproduction steps, could you describe the exact steps you performed, please? You mentioned, "When I open an article with an embedded direct-io-drawing..." (meaning draw.io).

This info is needed so we can test copy/paste at our place.

Thanks,

Marija

Hi Marija,

I used Chrome Version 77.0.3865.75 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit) and before.

I just tested it again with the same behaviour. It seems that it is important to come to this page freshly (e.g. from search). When you mark a text portion and use the context menu "Copy", everything is fine. It seems that the keyboard shortcut / event of CTRL-C is taken away. This stays valid until you click the embedded graphic the first time. After closing the lightbox popup the weird behaviour is gone.

I could repliacate this bahavour on a fresh page.

Best regards
Andreas

Are you using the latest version of the draw.io plugin? If not, please upgrade and test again.

Andreas Mock September 12, 2019

Hi David,

I forgot to mention it: We're using version 8.5.1 of draw.io which seems to be the newest version.

We'll move this issue to https://trello.com/c/Or4f6qre/220-ctrlc-issue-on-pages-with-drawio-diagrams to have a single point to track it.

Fix in 9.0.1

Andreas Mock September 19, 2019

Hi David,

just installed version 9.0.1 and checked it with two different browsers.

It seems to be fixed.

Thank you for investigating and fixing.

Best regards
Andreas
