Why do I have duplicate users in my People Directory?

After creating a personal space, I noticed that I was having trouble creating a Task Report with the assignee as myself. I was getting 500s at

When I checked the People Directory, I noticed 3 of myself.

Hi Nick,

There is a current bug on OnDemand that causes duplicates in the people directory but it can be easily fixed by contacting support. The bug is CONF-9857

As it will require a restart to update the database, please let us know when it will be the best time to do so.
