Why can't I edit the Page Tree Macro in the new UI?

When I select the Page Tree macro, the modifications I make are not saved.

As I understand, after you apply changes to the Page Tree macro the changes are not persisted. Is that correct?
We have a similar issue with the actual page tree element in the spaces, You can check the article about it here:

However, I am not sure about a few things. Could you clarify the following for us:

1. Are you using Confluence Server or Cloud?
2. How did you try to apply those changes to the page tree?
3. What kind of changes were you trying to apply?
