Why can't Confluence truly search?

You can search for documents, but once you view a result (PDF, word, page, etc), it doesn't highlight the matches. Even worse the built in PDF and browser search is disabled so there's really no way to find what you're looking for! How are people supposed to find anything if the document is longer than a page?

I thought the 6.14 update might fix this obvious omission but it doesn't seem to. I'm at a loss.

Hello there Eric!

The highlight feature could be the one mentioned under this Feature Request:

CONFSERVER-6174 | Search terms should be highlighted in pages

The current course of action would be to vote and watch the report! Voting increases the report visibility and watching will keep you up to date with everything.
