Why are my template instructions persisting to the search preview in my Space?

John Blum December 4, 2018

Hello:

I created a template for creating question and answer sets an in the template the entry page looks like this:

After a question and answer are entered a page is created it renders like this:

But when I use the search field you can still see the original set of instructions persist in all entries:

Thanks.

Hi @John Blum,

this is a known bug in Confluence: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-33208.

The workaround for now would be to make sure that users remove it before answering a question. Perhaps adding a request as a text to remove the instructional text.

Thanks Roman.

Two follow-ups:

  1. Any idea of when it will be fixed?
  2. Is it possible to "clean-up" questions that were already answered? In other words, remove the instructional text from existing answers.

@John Blum,

1. No idea. I would suggest asking Atlassian in the comment section of the Jira issue.

2. I guess it is possible to manually edit those Confluence pages to remove the instructional text. I don't think it would be trivial to automate this, perhaps there are apps in the Marketplace to help with this.

Roman.
