When user A creates a page in a space and shares it with user B with edit permissions on, user B can access the page, but only in view-only mode (the “Edit” button does not appear at all) .
We have observed this for the last 2-3 days, it used to work just fine until then.
On a free plan, we do not have the option for “Space tools” -> “users” to tweak permissions individually.
Any idea what could be wrong here? We have not made any changes to Confluence settings at our end.
Thank you!

Hi everyone, thank you for your help !

I did some testing, and I was able to solve the issue :

  1. Started the Confluence Standard trial
  2. Added myself to the spaces created with the permission. The issue might have been that the user had access but no role assigned. "Custom access, Has permissions in this psace but no role has been assigned yet."

@Lynn Doughane ,

Not sure if this would be affecting you but I've noticed that since Atlassian has been rolling out the Confluence roles that some free sites had their permissions overwritten.

Could you verify what you can see in the Access Setting on the space? Normally with the roles enabled it should allow you/request you to apply the "Confluence Users" to access/edit the space.

Yes, that will also be a possibility. It is rolling out since this month.

Hi @Lynn Doughane ,

in addition to @Arkadiusz Wroblewski  answer, please check if that page had some editing restriction before.

Hello @Lynn Doughane

Can User B edit another existing page in the same space?

check if the Confluence site was on a Standard/Premium trial or paid plan before moving to Free. Existing space/content permissions can be retained on Free, though granular configuration is unavailable.

Best,

Arek 🤠
