If I restrict users to View on a Confluence page, will they still be able to add comments, either page or inline?
Hi @Neal London,
Space tools / Permissions is where you assign the ability to add comments. If you restrict a page to where the user has "can view" access, they can still add an inline comment.
Once I removed the comment permission on space permissions, they no longer had the ability to comment.

In short - Yes.

Thank you. I also confirmed with a test of one user's view capabilities, but I did not know all the knobs, and how it applied to other types of users/groups.

Hi @Neal London ,
Another case might be when you want to restrict viewing for specific comments on a page. Native Confluence Inline Comments don't allow to set visibility for inline comments on a page. The Talk - Advanced Inline Comments app can address this case. For example, you can add specific users and/or groups to the conversation on a page and let only them view this online discussion and participate in it.
