Variables in template /excerpt sections no longer working

Up to a few days ago (prior to latest update for templates), we could include variables in excerpts in a template, worked smoothly.

Since update from week of 16th December, this has stopped working and the templates with these variables inside excerpts produce empty pages.

Love to get this back please Atlassian - it has broken important templates.

Meanwhile does anyone know of a workaround. In particualr we use variables in K15T's Scroll PDF Export sections, which is the main impact. These have similarly stopped working.

It's possible that something got messed up after the latest update.

Have you tried reaching out to Atlassian Support and explaining this behavior to them? Typically, their team attempts to replicate the issue, and if it is identified as a defect, they create a bug in JAC.
