Using Confluence Data Centre license on a Server instance

Hi, we're currently running a Confluence Server instance (version 6.1.3) with a 100 user license. I've been given a new, 500 user, Data Centre license for Confluence, which, I understood, would work fine on a Confluence Server instance...

However, on applying the Data Centre license to the Server instance, Confluence informs me it want's to upgrade itself.

Can anyone shed any light on whether a Data Centre license can indeed be applied to a Server instance of Confluence?

No, the data centre license wont work with server instance.
