I have a space where I want users to be able to Edit pages, but not create new pages or delete pages. To keep the space tidy. So....
In theory, the above should work right? Space permissions restrict ability to add new pages, but Page level Restriction explicitly allows EDIT.
But... sadly... this isn't working. Nobody (except me who has all the space permissions) - can see that edit button on the page. The only way I see to fix this is to make "Add Pages" green at Space level. Users can Edit the page - hurray! But they can also add & publish new pages, which is what I wanted to avoid. Is this a Confluence limitation / bug?
If not, what am I missing? Thanks in advance!
Hello @Jersey Shore
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
That doesn't appear to be possible at this time, but there is a change request for it to which you can add your vote.

(Thanks to @Ste Wright for providing the answer in this post.)
@Jersey Shore In addition, the permissions in Confluence pages flow downhill (so to speak). You have to give the permissions at the higher level and then restrict permissions at a lower level where you want to limit them.
This means that you can't say, "user 1 cannot edit space A (space permissions), except for page XYZ (page permissions)."
You have to say "user 1 can edit space A (space permissions), except for all pages other than XYZ (restrict editing in the page permissions on each page the user cannot edit)."
Note that in the case of being able to edit a child page, you would have to allow the user to edit the parent page(s) up the tree. Of course, as @Trudy Claspill pointed out, this does allow the user to create pages within the space.

Ty Trudy, Barbara!
Sadly, there is no "Edit" space-level permission. There is Add / Delete at the Space. Its not intuitive that Add Page - is inclusive of Edit. It took me experimenting to see that in the system... that you need ADD at the space-level, in order to edit a page.
Those should arguably be distinctly separate permissions. The result unfortunately, is that I now have users that can create pages - when I wanted to give them edit permissions, only.
I'll vote for it - ty for the link. I can imagine there are many use cases for this - where you want to lock down page creation, but permit editing across the space.
