Hi,
Is there a list somewhere that tells me when synching users from Active Directory, what stipulations there are for usernames - i.e how many chars, what chars and symbols can be used (,.<'>"&_- etc). If possible I would like a list for Confluence and Jira as I believe it's different between them.
Thanks
Hi @Thomas Drake ,
I am unaware of any list like this existing on the Atlassian side. However, I believe JIRA would sync any names that do not contain the following:
The username must not contain '<', '>' or '&' (you see this error when you use create users normally)
As for confluence, I know it does not allow usernames starting with Capitals but when synced from your AD, it will still allow these users. It does not support usernames with:
Usernames cannot contain the characters '+', ',', '\', '<', '>', ', or ".
I hope this helps you and please note that a full stop '.' is allowed.
Cheers.

So just so i've got this correct , when manually setting up a user in confluence it will NOT allow you to have a username starting with a capital letter , but when synching from AD to confluence , it allows usernames starting with a capital letter ?

That is correct.
