  1. Insert an image on a page.
  2. View the image in the previewer.
  3. Add a comment.
  4. Attach an updated image to the page (using the same file name).
  5. The comment disappears.

This seems like a bug, but I would like some feedback before filing an issue.

Problem: if I ask a user to update a file and she does, the user is then unable to resolve the comment. I would need to add the comment a second time.

Hi Robbie,

I answer this cautiously because I have not yet personally worked with Confluence v5.7 (can't wait!), but in the demo of the inline commenting feature at Summit 2015 I believe it was said that the comments 'stick' to the version of the file (Office document, PDF, image) or page you are working on. If that is the case, then if one uploads a new version of the page or attachment, they would disappear from view (but still be associated with the previous version of the file).

Unfortunately, I can't find that addressed either in the v5.7 Release Notes or @Ryan Anderson [Atlassian]'s blogpost, "Introducing a New Feedback Loop in Confluence 5.7".   If Ryan sees this, he can surely clear this up for both of us.

Also in the comments on that blogpost page there are some interesting items touched on, including Ryan's mention of something that Atlassian may be working on to address inline comments when in the edit mode.

If this is the case, it seems that resolving a comment is pointless. Most often, one comments on an attachment b/c the attachment needs updating.
