The beta has been running for several months now, I have https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/create-and-edit-databases/ in my bookmarks and I think it arrived early summer '23.
I don't know how to confirm your volunteering sign-up though, I got bogged down in other stuff and never managed to get on to volunteer, let alone actually try much! (Community leads have access to a system that it is enabled in)
There are questions appearing about it in Community here as well, which makes me think people are definitely trying it out, and not just in a 5 minute drive-by glance.
