Unable to view/add epic link to a team managed Sync on Jira software

We are trying to integrate Opsgenie to Jira software using the sync feature. We would like to move the alerts/incident from Opsgenie to under an epic in Jira software project. When we checked with a Jira company managed project(with admin access) we were able to see the epic link option under "Rules for taking action against alerts". However our current Jira project is a team manged one(with admin access) and when we try to use the sync feature we are not able to view/add the epic link. Kindly help us on how to move the Opsgenie alerts to under an epic on Jira.

Hi @Ananda, Sampath Kumar

Team-managed projects have limited epic functionality compared to company-managed projects. Specifically, issue-to-epic linking capabilities may be restricted or implemented differently. To leverage full epic functionality, consider migrating to a company-managed project.

The Opsgenie-Jira integration may have functional limitations in team-managed projects, potentially excluding features available in company-managed projects. Additionally, optimization for team-managed projects might be incomplete.

When direct epic linking is not feasible, explore the following alternative approaches:

  1. Utilize labels or custom fields to replicate epic grouping for alert/incident categorization.
  2. Create a parent issue in Jira to represent the epic and link Opsgenie alerts to this parent.
  3. Leverage Jira's native "Parent Link" feature in team-managed projects as a substitute for epic linking.

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards
