I am trying to update a powerpoint deck available on a confluence page. There was an option to edit the file. I made the changes to the file and saved it. In confluence, it mentioned that the file was saved, but the "update" button is disabled. How do I solve this?
Hi @Bhairavi Krishnan ,
Did you do a "Save" or a "Save As?" When you saved the file were you prompted to choose a file location? If you Save the file to the "C:\Users\545286\.atlassian-companion\...." location defaulted in the Save As prompt the link to the Confluence page will remain intact and the Update button will be accessible. However, if you save it to any other location the link will be broken and the button will remain grayed out.
If you are still having problems try uploading the updated file again to the same location in Confluence with the same file name. This will overwrite the previous file and should increment the versioning.
Hope this helps,
-Scott
I did a "Save" and not "Save as". I tried the same steps in my colleague's machine and it worked in his and the update button was enabled. When I try in mine, after I save the powerpoint, it is not syncing in confluence. Since it is not syncing, the update button is disabled.

Were you logged in as yourself or as your colleague on the other machine? If you were using your colleague's login then there is probably a page restriction or you do not have permission to edit the page (links below for more info)

If you were logged in as yourself on the other machine then there may be an issue with Powerpoint on your system that is causing it to lose the linkage.

Both of us have the same rights on the page - so shouldn't be a restriction issue. I have been using powerpoint on my machine without any issues so far.

Also, I noticed something else. It only seems to happen for that one powerpoint. I tried editing a different file and it worked. I used the same machine and the same atlassian user account as before. Not sure why that one presentation is failing to update.

Interesting...can you download the deck and save it with a different name in PowerPoint then upload the new file? It sounds like there is some corruption in that one.

That didn't work. There are 2 powerpoints in that particular confluence page. Tried editing both the powerpoints and I was unable to upload my edited version.
I tried in a different confluence page and it worked. So there is something in that confluence page which is stopping me from editing. I checked my rights in that page and I do have edit rights. Very weird.

OK, so I finally fixed the issue. I reached out to my colleague who is a jira admin and asked him to make me an admin as well. That fixed the issue!
Not sure why I was able to update documents in a different confluence page without being an admin and why the particular page I was trying to update had an issue, but at least I no longer have the issue.

huh...that is very odd. I'm glad you were able to resolve it.
