Unable to subscribe to Confluence Team Calendar in Desktop Outlook using iCal URL

I am trying to subscribe to a Confluence Team Calendar from Microsoft Outlook.
The link generated by Confluence for subscription ends with ?os_authType=basic&isSubscribe=true after ics.

When I add the URL in Outlook, it displays the following error: "

We can't add the calendar for right now. Please try again later."

Assuming this is an authentication related issue, what is the recommended way to resolve it?

Hi @Chia_ Jun Wei ,

Have you tried the web version to see if that will work? 👀

I'm on Windows and my URL looks something like this:

https://confluence-calendars.services.atlassian.com/cloudid/<id>/confluence/wiki/plugins/servlet/team-calendars/caldav/

Although I'm looking at Confluence Cloud. Not sure if you're on cloud or DC.

You could also check this:

  • Navigate to Confluence Settings (gear icon) > Data Management > Team Calendars.

  • Ensure Disable Private URLs is unchecked.

  • Note: If you change this setting, you must regenerate and use a new subscription URL.

Here are the official instructions: Subscribe to Team Calendars from third-party calendars

Btw, there's also this known bug, but that kinda happens after you manage to subscribe to the calendar: CONFCLOUD-79165: Team Calendar Updates Not Syncing to Outlook

One more thing you could check is pasting your .ics subscription URL into an incognito browser window. If it doesn't download a file immediately, the calendar may be too large, so try to reduce the size by creating a new calendar that only includes current and future events. 🤔

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi @Tomislav Tobijas , thanks for the quick response.

I just tried the web version and it doesn't work too. Same error as the desktop version.

Will check with my administrator for private URLs
