It's a bit unclear from your description, but when you highlight text in Confluence, do you have the Jira Icon show up, or only the comment bubble?

If you only see the comment bubble, it means that the Application Link with Jira is either not set up or is not working properly. You (or your Jira admin) will need to sort that out in order to be able to create issues from Confluence.

If you are seeing the Jira icon, when you click it, you should see a dialog box something like this.

The list of Jira projects will be based on the ones that you have access to create issues in.  Once you click "Create," the issue will be created in Jira and you will see the Jira Issue lozenge on the Confluence page.

If everything looks correct, but when you click "create" an issue is not created in Jira, the connection is probably timing out due to Jira slowness.  I would expect Jira to feel slow to users, as well.  If Jira feels slow, I'd bet that is your problem. I've seen this behavior on really slow systems.

Hi @Dave Theodore [Coyote Creek Consulting]

When I highlight the text I see 2 icons, one is for 'Add line comment' and other is 'Create Jira issue'. I give all the details like below and click create. Nothing happens and It doesn't display if any error

How do I find if jira is timing out due to jira slowness, I am a jira admin and I feel our jira instance is not slow

Thanks

You need to select a Project and Issue Type from the two drop downs below the "Create multiple issues from table" line.  Check my screenshot for how things should look.

Hi @Dave Theodore [Coyote Creek Consulting]

I selected the project and the issue type as Story and click on Create button. I don't get any result.

Thanks

Hi @Dave Theodore [Coyote Creek Consulting]

However I can create a story which is epic free if only I uncheck the check box, 'Link to epic' from the screen shot I attached below. However, I check the checkbox to 'Link to epic' is checked and I am not able to create story.

Check the Project Permissions on the Jira project in question. Make sure you have "Link Issues" permission. That is required in order to link a Story to an Epic.

Hi @Dave Theodore [Coyote Creek Consulting]

I checked the Project permissions of our project and for Link issues it is 'Any logged in user.

Thanks
