The title of your post is "unable to add space to confluence". Are you actually encountering an error trying to create a new space, or are you not getting the space you expect?
When creating a new space you are presented with a set of space templates to choose from. The selection of the template will configure a default home page for the space, and may add a few default pages. Beyond that for each page you add you can select a template for the page. All page templates are available in all types of spaces.
If that doesn't address your question, please provide more information about the steps you are executing, the results, and how those results don't meet your expectations.
