Hi, how can we turn off the attached document preview. We have a bunch of PDF that need to download on click install of preview. The download at the top menu not working for our users has they find it confusing and adds an extra step.
I've this, but the module is grey out and can't be turned off
ou can disable the Confluence Previews plugin under your System add-ons section. To do so you just need to go under your Manage add-ons page, select All add-ons on the drop box and then type Confluence Previews into the search field. Then disable it and the preview feature will not longer work.
Any suggestion on how to proceed
Thank you for you help
phil
Hi Phil, welcome to the Community!
I'm tracking down some additional information in the backend for you. That procedure typically would work (although I should point out that it turns off the preview for all attachments, not just PDFs).
Would you be able to let me know the version of Confluence you're on, and also the version of the Universal Plugin Manager? By going to the Manage Apps page, the version is listed down at the bottom of the app list:
As a potential workaround, I might suggest using the Attachments macro since you mentioned you have quite a few PDFs for people to download at once. Among the filters you can use to select which attachments to show (limiting to PDFs might be good if you also have images on the page), make sure to turn off the "Allow upload" option:
Then on the page, people will see a list of all the PDFs and have a Download All option available:
Cheers,
Daniel
Update: in Confluence 7.3.2 and above, the Confluence Previews plugin can no longer be disabled in the plugin manager. I'd recommend using the "Download All" option I mentioned!
As an addendum, we're also looking closely at this suggestion to be able to more extensively modify how previews work: CONFSERVER-36736
