Trying to share a page on a space that is set up for anonymous users, but every time I go to share the page using the built-in share tool. Confluence is sending an invite to the user to join the space as a user and costing a license. Is there a setting that can fix this?

Hi @Christen Lucas ,

This support article, Share a page or blog post, describes the behaviour you're seeing:

  • Inviting external users
When you share content with someone outside Confluence, we send them an email inviting them to join your site. They’ll be prompted to create an Atlassian account before they can access your page or blog post.

However since you've opened up your space to anonymous users, it's understandable you don't want this behavior!

You can instead click the Share button then select "Copy link" to get a shortened URL to send by email to the person you want to see the page.

This seems to be the option that Atlassian advises since they now default to trying to get people to create new acccounts (paid licenses).

I hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Sharon
