The person who created a space has left our team. Does he need to transfer ownership of the space to someone else? Can he be removed as an admin, and if so what happens when he is?

there's nothing like an ownership for a space but there has to be at least one administrator for a space - you can't remove the last one.
If he is the only space administrator, another Confluence administrator has to step in and give the administration permission of the space to someone else.
