TOC - Export to Word/PDF- Links to Headings not maintained

I am using the TOC Macro to create a reference guide in confluence. However, when I export to PDF or Word the links to the headings are not maintained. Due to this when I export the document to the word format, it makes it difficult to navigate. Is there a way to maintain the link to headings on export?

Hello there Karen!
Currently, the native PDF export does not have this feature.
We could, however, test the Content Exporter plugin. This third-party add-on should be able to export and create the headers in Word:

Content Exporter | Atlassian Marketplace

When you click the three dots menu (...) in the top right corner, select the export to word that is provided by the plugin.

After that, click to customize for this export. You will then be able to select to generate table of contents.

Thanks, I am using confluence cloud and I am looking for free alternatives to the plugin. It would be great if you could suggest free alternatives.
