Our team uses excerpts for words, numbers, and some tables. We were interested in using the new Synced Blocks feature per Confluence documentation recommendation, but we're running into a problem that makes this whole feature unusable.
If we create a Synced Block, we cannot add that Synced Block into our pages because we use the 2-column layout. If we attempt to add one, it gets pushed to the bottom of the content outside of our layout.
This means we can't use it at all since all of our pages use the 2-column layout. Additionally, if we were to try to use it how we use Excerpts for system names and interest rates, we can't use those either because we'd need them to be in-line with text like Excerpts are.
Is the 2-column restriction intentional? Is there a plan to make them work in-line like Excerpts do? We'd love to use a native solution like Synced Blocks, but this is a non-starter with the current features.
Hi @Randy 👋🏻
First of all, welcome to community! ✨
To answer to your question, as far I understand, Page Layout and Synced Blocks are at the same structural hierarchy, hence its preventing you from nesting a Synced Block directly into a column layout.
If it's OKAY, you can try the below workarounds:
Let me know if this helped & resolved your issue. 🙂

This sounds like a bug. My recommendation is to directly open a support request with Atlassian, and ask support to open a bug report.
