When I edit a page on Confluence I always see a message in the bottom of the screen that reads "This page can be converted to the new editor". I have no desire to do that, and I was not able to find a way to get rid of this message. This started in February or March 2020. Please advise!
Hey, thanks for reaching out @rotem .
As I understand, the message about page conversion shows up each and every time you edit pages using out Legacy Editor (tinyMCE).
According to documentation, this message should display only in the first page edited after the rollout reaches your instance. Here is an excerpt from our document:
When this capability is turned on for your site, you'll get a banner notification at the top of the first page you edit, and you’ll see a notification at the lower left of the page.

With this in mind, I would like to understand a little more about the current situation:
- Is this message present when editing any page with the Legacy Editor (tinyMCE)?
- Is the message shown when editing newly created pages that use the Legacy Editor (tinyMCE)?
Let us hear from you!
Hi Diego,
Thanks for your response! You're right, this message does not appear when editing newly created pages. However, it appears in all pages created before the update, and it appears every time I edit one of those pages.
I don't know whether what I'm using is the legacy editor tinyMCE.

Hello there! You should be able to tell both editors apart by comparing the top portion of the page. Here you can see the differences:
New Editor – Fabric:
Legacy Editor – tinyMCE:
I would like to check with you if this is the notification about conversion that you are seeing in your pages:
For me, it shows up only when I am using tinyMCE as the editor. Would it be possible for you to verify if this is the same behavior you are facing?
Let me hear from you!

Yes! This is the note I'm seeing, and when reviewing the pages that show this note, their top panel looks like your screenshot above for tinyMCE, while for the newer pages where I don't see the note, their top panel looks like your screenshot from Fabric. So I think this is the same behavior as you're describing.
Just to restate the problem -- I could find no way of getting rid of this note, and it appears every time I edit these pages.

Hello there again @rotem !
As far as I understand, this notification is permanent. It starts displaying as soon as the feature for conversion is available for your instance.
I will, however, dig a little deeper and check if there is anything different about it now.
Let me hear from you!

I'd absolutely love to just keep the old pages under the legacy editor and not worry about it, and get rid of the message.
Sounds like this is not possible at the moment, but if this changes it would make me a happier user.

Hey, great to have you share your opinion here @rotem
Clearing that notification is not possible. What is possible is for us to control exactly when pages will be converted to the new editor. This is an excerpt from our documents:
When the page conversion functionality is available in your Confluence instance, you can pick and choose which pages get converted and when. You'll also have the option to preview any page before converting it. We want you to feel comfortable with the process. You'll also have the chance to restore a page to its previous, legacy editor version after conversion.

And there is also this blog post talking about how we now have full control over page conversion:
I hope this gives enough information! Let me hear from you.

Hi @Diego
I am also receiving this message every time I edit an older page. I am very concerned with your statement "What is possible is for us to control exactly when pages will be converted to the new editor."
I do not ever want to convert these pages, as they would have less functionality int e newer editor. Of particular concern is bug 67512 which must be resolved before we will change editors. But this is one of many problems with the new editor.
Does this mean I will see this notification forever?
Thanks,
Jon

Hello @Jonathan Brewer ! According to this Blog Post here in our Community, the Legacy Editor (tinyMCE) will not be removed in the foreseeable future:
And yes, the notification that says “This page can be converted to the new editor ‘Preview Page’” will be present in all pages that still use the Legacy Editor.
I hope this clarifies the situation!
