Sticky header displayed or flashing on top of table in live docs (potential bug)

RC

Hi there,

When editing big tables in live docs and scrolling down on a page, I notice the table's header row is made "sticky". So the header row stays in sight while scrolling down the table, which is a nice thing to have.

However,

  • in Firefox (v154.0.1 / add-ons disabled) the header starts flashing when scrolling down and putting the cursor anywhere within the table, which is very distracting and annoying.
  • in Vivaldi (Chromium based) the header is displayed on top of the table content (with the other rows passing behind the header row but going above the header row). I would expect the table rows never to appear above the header row.

Can other users confirm this behavior?
Is this a bug?

Hi @RC ,

Performance can definitely vary from browser to browser. I'm on Brave and I've seen similar behavior a couple of times (mostly when the page didn't properly load)

Similar to what you're seeing in Vivaldi, in Brave you have the same behavior when you start scrolling the page/table, but within 1 second or so the header row behaves like the highest element and you cannot see rest of the table anymore. 👀

Regarding flickering, I know there's this reported bug: CONFCLOUD-82871: Table flickers when attempting to edit row/column but this isn't exactly what you're looking for.

As Dan said, the best would be to reach out to Atlassian Support (if you cannot create a support ticket, ask your Confluence admin to do it) 🎟️
Note that they'll probably ask you to generate HAR file to be able to troubleshoot this further.

Cheers,
Tobi

I took a quick look on Atlassian's Jira Site and didn't find anything related.  I've tagged Atlassian Support to help out here.  I would say if you don't hear back from them, your admin can reach out an open a work item directly with Atlassian to look into this further.

I would say if they do create a new work item to look at, to post the number here so people can vote for and watch it for updates.
