Some users cannot connect to Confluence, get "Connection was reset" error

IT Person1
July 12, 2020

Some users can no longer connect to Confluence when using VPN, get "Connection was reset" error after entering credentials. Other users can still connect to Confluence on the same computer with the same VPN conection.

Affected users can connect to Confuence if directly plugged in to the local network.

Verified user names and passwords are correct.

Confluence Server version 6.14

Using Crowd for authentication

Windows Server 2012R2 domain

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

We had the same issue, but not related to the VPN and maybe not even Confluence.  But it did effect logging into Confluence.   It turns out our user had a $ in their password.  We had them change the password and remove the $ and it immediately allowed them to login.
