Setting up confluence stuck on setupembeddeddb-default.action

It's just showing a blank page with Confluence at top left and Atlassian link in middle, rest of page is blank. This is directly after the install and inputting a license and receiving a 500 http error

I found this link which actually gave me the DB setup options

http://localhost:8090/setup/setupdbchoice-start.action

Now just trying to figure out issues with connecting to an SQL database, but got other stuff to deal with this morning. I got the link from this article where it showed the link as referer prior to the url that just gave me blank page mostly

I don't have an answer, but I'm having the exact same problem with installing 7.12.3. I hope support is watching this thread.
