Set default space home page not showing after log in

I have configured  > General Configuration > Further Configuration > Edit > Site Homepage.

It works fine when the site icon in the upper-left corner is clicked, but upon logging in, the user is taken to the space's Activity page instead.

It's my understanding that if the Site Homepage is configured, that space's set home page would be the default page after logging in.

Alright, I figured out a partial workaround.

Using the log in icon in the lower-left corner, the default is to go to the Activity page, so I added a log in link to the un-logged-in default page that changed the destination after logging in.

I would still like to find a way to set the actual log in icon to do the same though.
