Server Stopped responding after taking a snapshot

Ubuntu 18 ESXi 6.5

Took a snapshot in esxi and the server quit responding, rebooted server and it was responding but not able to access the site. I tired manually starting Following this article and I was still not able to access it. I had to revert to the last snapshot and the site was reachable again. Is this normal?

I would not say that it is normal, but it depends on the configuration of your machine and application. Snapshot might break your index or cache if application was not turned of gracefully. It would be good to check Confluence logs in order to be able to say more what could cause problems with starting it up. Maybe it was problem with resources like memory.
