Restricting External Users to Single Space

Cassie Hertert November 8, 2018

Hello - I am trying to set up a space for a number of external partners, and I want them to have access only to that space. I've created a group for these users, then gone into global settings and verified that this group (external) has Can Use but not other permissions. Then in the space permissions, I have gone into the specific space I would like them to access and given permissions to the group. When a user logs in that is a member of this group, however, they also have access to the very first space we created. At one time this was the default landing space, so I thought maybe it had to do with that. But even changing the landing space to the dashboard, users of this group still have access to that home space. I have double and triple checked the space settings on that one, and only the confluence-users group has access. I have also double and triple checked that the members of this external group are not also members of the confluence-users group. When they log in, these are the only two spaces they can see. Can anyone help me figure out how to remove them from the home space, and allow them only to see the external space? Thanks much!

If I remember correctly, everyone has to be a member of Confluence-users. So you need to have two sub groups, one for internal users and one for external users. Then you set your home space to ONLY be visible to the internal (and have to check all other spaces).

If this doesn't help, then please provide a screenshot of your home space permission settings.

That does help, thank you!
