just setting up a trial version of confluence and the first step is to change the name, however doing this i then get a message that i dont have permission to do that and can go no further

Can you confirm with me which name the site is asking you to change? Are you referring to the Site Title?

It will help if you can share with me a screenshot of the screen where you're stuck, and the error message that you see.
