Rick,
This is usually due to a plugin/marco being used on the page. If you know what it is you can disable it then when you open the page it will not be blank. I have also seen this when there is an update to the marco/plugin and the user needs to clear their browser cache. Sometimes the cache stores old JavaScript which in turn causes the issue.
