HI there,
we want to disable a user to safe licenses in confluenes. But we always get the error message "User "xy" could not be disabled. The directory may be read-only."
I went to the user directories and opened the settings for the active directory server.
There I clicked under LDAP Permissions "Read/Write".
Additionally I checked "Manage User Status Locally" under Advanced settings.
According to confluence troubleshooting it should be enough to disable user, but we still get the error message:
Has some an idea how to disable users properly?
You might have told Jira that the directory is read/write, but that does not necessarily mean the directory is write-able by Jira.
Does the user that Jira connects to the directory with have full write permissions in the directory?
Where in the settings I can check which user is connected to the directory in Jira?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Is it not shown when you "edit" the directory settings? If not, then I think it should still be shown in the "system information" page.

Are we talking about jira or confluence where I should check?
Because I couldnt find anything in the confluence settings.

Both have a system information page, and an option to edit the directory.

Could it be an option to delete or remove the users from the group in the microsoft AD and then run a sync on confluence?
Everything seems to be alright in the confluence settings.
