We don't know what you mean by "admin zone" - there's nothing like that you need to change in a standard Confluence install just to change the address.

To change the address of a Confluence, you have to tell your network how to resolve the name you want to use (i.e. when someone lands on confluence.xxx.ch, the network takes them to 10.0.0xxx), and, as you have done, change the base url.

If it's not working, we need to know what else you have done to make this change.

Why did you change server.xml?  Was it not just a change of url from host-ip to host-name?

What errors are you seeing when you "can't create new sites"?  Could you describe the problem in more detail than "can't"?

When I changed the Baseurl alone I always got a whitescreen, only when I changed the server.xml too the Confluence page ran.
But I got the following error message when creating a new page:
The response time is too long
And nothing happened after that.

So, can you tell us

  • What you added to the network to allow the name to resolve?
  • What you changed in the server.xml?
  • What else you changed?
  • What the Confluence application log says as it starts up?
