When trying to see the change history of blog posts, we are getting an error message saying
Page level restrictions have been applied to a parent of the current page. These restrictions limit access to certain users or groups and apply to all pages underneath the parent.
This does not make sense to me and I do not understand this. This is coming up when trying to get the page history (via page extras menu), but also if you click on the time stamp of the last modification to see the recent changes. However, when clicking "view change" in the activities you can see the latest modfication changes at least. Is there any global setting we can change or is it a bug?
Thanks for your help in advance!
We finally found the reason for this: It is a bug in addon "Redaction". This Plugin restricts the page history, if its macro had been added by another user. The bug restricts the history for all blog posts which obviously should not be the case.
Jan,
Happy to hear you have resolved the issue! Thank you so much for following up with us. I'm sure it will be helpful to any users who run into the same issue.

Hi Jan,
I'm working on replicating this issue, so I have a few questions.
Please let me know whatever details I'd need to replicate this on my own environment so I can see if it's a bug.
Thank you!
Shannon

Hi Shannon,
the Confluence version is 5.10.8
We have this issue with every blog post all over the site, No matter which permissions. And as far as I know you cannot put a page above a blog as blogs are not related with pages?
The same happens for the blog / space owner.
Thanks for looking into this,
Jan

Hi Jan,
I've been working with this and trying to research it, but I'm not able to replicate the problem you're having.
Here's what I've done so far on my 5.10.8 test instance:
To answer your question, a blog post cannot be a child or the parent of a page. It belongs to a space, but will only show in the Blog category on the sidebar.
Could you try Rebuilding the Ancestor Table to rule out any weird permissions issues? You'll want to make a backup and run this during a maintenance period.
Regards,
Shannon
