Hi
We updated the layout of Confluence to the new layout (white navigation on top of the page). After cleaning my cache, history, cookies the layout was set back to the old one including the blue navigation on the left side of the screen.
Does anyone know why this is related to my individual settings of my browser?
Why does Confluence not keep the layout?
Thanks, Reto
Reto,
The change in navigation is not cookie based as I was able to set it in my browser and clear cache and it remained. I was also able to open another browser and confirm that my preference for the new navigation was there. You can turn it on and off in your Confluence profile. I would suggest turning it on and then clearing your cache again to see if you have the same problem as I was not able to recreate on my end. I am wondering if this was just a one time issue.
Thanks for the fast answer. I guessed it would not be a configuration of the browser.
Can you tell me where to find it in the Confluence profile? Can I (admin) set that for all the users?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
When you are logged into Confluence it is the menu on the upper right hand side. See image below.
It is the default now and has been rolled out to users so there is nothing to turn on or set. If they choose to use the old navigation they can but eventually this will be deprecated and go away. Thanks, I could switch back to the new navigation.
But: Switching to Firefox, I had the old navigation again. Clearing my data back in Chrome and login in new into Confluence, it also switched back to the old navigation. It is not a one time issue.

It sounds like it is applying via application cookies. I am not able to replicate this on my instance but it has had the new navigation longer.
