Need to recover the lost versions on Confluence page

Hong Giang Nguyen
March 16, 2026

Issue:

Some pages have disappeared. I cannot access these links and they show the following error: “It may have been deleted, the URL could have a typo in it, or you may need to log in to view it.”

I checked the Trash, but there are no pages there.

I think these pages might have been overwritten. Please help me recover them.

Impact: Some important company information may have been lost.

Hi @Hong Giang Nguyen

  • Deleted pages go to Trash and Trash needs to be purged for a page to disappear completely.
  • A page might have been archived, in which case it would be in the Archived section.
  • It seems that you still have a link (links) to navigate to. That link contains the page ID, which makes the page link independent from the page title.
  • So if the page's content was overwritten, it would still display and you'd be able to see the page's version history and recover any other previous version.
  • The page can be restricted which would render it not-accessible to anyone who's not specified in the restriction setup. Note that being an admin does not automatically grant you access to restricted pages.

As this a user community, we cannot access your site.

If you still feel (after verifying that none of the above applies to your situation), I advise that you open a support ticket with Atlassian.

Hi @Hong Giang Nguyen ,

as you are on an Enterprise plan you should reach out to Atlassian's support right away and have them investigate this together with you to find out what happened and whether the content can be restored.

I have flagged your ticket for a Support Engineer to have a look at it and assist you.

Greeting
Philipp

Hello @Hong Giang Nguyen

if the pages are not in Trash, I would first check whether they were moved/archived or whether an older version is still available in Page history.

KB

If the page still exists, you can restore an earlier version from Page history. If it was deleted, a space admin should normally be able to restore it from the space Trash.

If it is neither in history nor in Trash, I would involve your Confluence admin /site admin/ Atlassian support as soon as possible.

@Hong Giang Nguyen

Understand.

So as one of our Champions flagged that for support, please wait for their response.
