Missing users

Is there any way to add users not on the system in confluence so that they are able to access a private page?   One of the users is shown as logged into confluence, but their user name does not appear when i search, nor will it let me add their full email as a user able to read and edit the page.

Yes, there is. These are guests. Guests are free of charge. In order to add guests to your page:

1. Go to your space settings
2. Choose General
3. Locate Guests tab and define the permissions for guest user
