I was having the old confluence server, currently we had purchased the new license for the confluence and now i would like to migration from that old version to new version and also to the new server with Windows server 2016.
Hello,
Restoring an earlier version of Confluence on to a newer version can work, but should not be used as an alternative to upgrading as outlined in Restoring a Site.
I recommend creating an upgrade path and test it in a test instance that is a copy of your production:
Make sure to take adequate backups before each step.
In regards to HW change, you can either move your instance before or after an upgrade by following Migrating Confluence Between Servers guide, but if your current server is not sufficiently powerful to accommodate target version, I recommend either using your new server 2016 for testing and switch over or migrate production to it.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Igor
Hi!
Have you tried to backup and restore in new instance? (https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/site-backup-and-restore-163578.html)
For many use cases, it works.
Or you can import spaces in new installation.
Cheers,
