Markdown Still Available in Confluence Cloud?

Deleted user June 12, 2020

I found this article (Insert Confluence wiki markup) in the Confluence Cloud docs, but the new editor doesn't seem to have an Insert > Markdown option? This article does not say it's been deprecated, though. . . is it now accessed in a different way, maybe?

Hi @[deleted] ,

As I understand it, you are correct; there is no way out of the box to insert a wiki markup macro on a page and have it render when the page is presented. The only way I know of to do that at the moment isn't available on Cloud but Server only with Bob Swift's Wiki Markup addon.

Part of me feels like something was lost when you could do a whole layout with wiki markup. All that said, if you are still looking for more direct contact with how the page is built, you could also look at page source editors. I keep it installed always on my hosted instance as sometimes that is the only way to fix a borked page.

Thanks for the response, @Mike Rathwell. I think my confusion really stems from “why are there docs on Confluence Cloud site that reference something that doesn’t exist anymore? I see docs that say “Confluence Cloud” on them and they tell me I can do certain things, so then I go about eating my time trying to figure out why I can’t get it to work. Then I end up here. I just wanted to use functionality that, as of the minute I posted this, Atlassian claims wholeheartedly exists for Confluence Cloud. Well, that’s a bit frustrating. There are even directions for “the new editor” on another page. So yeah, I was just trying to use a native feature that was documented by Atlassian to exist. I definitely am not interested in purchasing something else. Apparently, the option to use Markdown does *not* in fact exist in Confluence Cloud, and that’s what I needed to know. Someone at Atlassian might want to purchase some of the doc management apps from the Marketplace and get rid of the hundreds of out-of-date docs they have up there. It causes a lot of confusion and wasted effort when trying to use that material for reference.

Thanks again for your reply. You told me what I needed to know.
