Hi everyone,
Since approximately two weeks ago, I've been experiencing an issue with Confluence Cloud where newly created Live Docs lose their content despite showing a "Saved" status.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a new Live Doc
Paste content into the page
Leave/navigate away from the page within a few seconds
Expected behavior: Content is saved (as indicated by the "Saved" notification at the top of the page).
Actual behavior: When returning to the Live Doc, the body is completely empty and the version history shows nothing.
Workarounds found so far:
Workaround 1: After pasting content, navigate to another page, then return to the Live Doc and paste the content again. After that, it seems to persist correctly.
Workaround 2: After pasting content, keep the tab open for a few minutes before navigating away. The content then saves properly to the server.
This suggests there may be a race condition or delayed sync issue introduced in a recent update.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'd appreciate confirmation from others so we can determine how widespread this is. Any additional workarounds or insights are welcome.
Thanks!
Hi @Milan Berta welcome to the community. I looked on Atlassian's Jira Site and found CONFCLOUD-84547 which sounds like your issue. From that work item, a fix was rolled out. I am going to loop in Atlassian Support, as to the status of the change or to see if it is not resolved in your instance. If you don't hear back from them shortly, I would recommend your Administrator to open a work item with them.
@Dan's got the right ticket — CONFCLOUD-84547 matches this exactly: the live page gets emptied when the collaborative editor snapshot isn't available, with no version entry and no disconnect warning. That's your symptom.
Small correction on the fix status though. Last I looked the ticket was still at Waiting for Release, not fully rolled out — so the code fix is in but it hasn't shipped to every instance yet, which is why you're still getting hit.
Your keep-the-tab-open trick fits the root cause. The snapshot needs a moment to sync server-side, so navigating away within a couple of seconds is what drops the content. Give it that beat, or re-paste after a round trip, until the release reaches you.
I'd add yourself as a watcher on CONFCLOUD-84547 so you catch the release note, and if an admin can open a support ticket referencing it, that flags your instance for the rollout.
