Linking from Confluence page to file on network

Andreas Grabher February 9, 2017

When entering a link to a local file like C:\temp\file.doc I enter the following code:

<a href="file://C:\temp\file.doc">file.doc</a>

However after saving in Confluence the Link looks like this:

<a>file.doc</a>

How can I prevent Confluence from doing so?

Hi Andreas

Use the HTML macro and the link will remain as a well-formed link to a file location.

Hi Rob, that sounds good, do you refer to this macro:

Thx.

Hi Andreas,

If you're using the server version, yes.

If you're using the Cloud version (or for anyone who reads this question who is using the Cloud version) then the native HTML macro is one of the restricted Cloud functions due to security issues, but this add-on will give you basically the same functionality.  It is paid, but it's very cheap.

Thank you Rob, this works perfectly. We're on the server version.

All the best,

Andreas
