Hi,
I have embedded an excel file via the office excel macro on various confluence pages and was wondering if there is a way to have the source file updated when the file is updated, edited and saved on confluence. Currently edits made to the source file, when not opened in confluence, do not change the document on confluence itself or when opened, edited and saved on confluence, the offline source file does not update.
All I am looking for is a way to link these files, so that the updates occur in both spaces.
Thanks,
Cameron Church
Not possible... confluence treats its version as the authoritative file.
Thanks for the feedback Bart. That's what I figured, but thanks for confirming.

The typical thing for this scenario would be to make the Confluence version the authoritative and only version. If you have Office installed and you have edit access to the page you should see a link above the Office macro and also on the attachments page that will allow you to directly open that Office attachment in the appropriate Office application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). When you use that link and save the document the changes will be push right back into Confluence without having to do the whole save to your machine/edit/save/re-upload dance.

I should also mention you get the added benefit of the document now being versioned so you can see how it has changed over time and go back to a previous version if necessary.

Thanks for the feedback Davin. I am aware of the Edit Document function and have used it to edit and update the excel files I have attached to my pages.
You didn't say it directly, but I'm assuming there isn't a way for the original file to receive the updates made through confluence?
