We're trying to restrict access to a specific set of page and sub pages within a particular space for a certain group (confluence-contractors) and we don't want them to have the ability to view any other pages within the space.

At the same time, we don't want to affect the permissions the main confluence-users group's access.

Hi @Michael Bellandi

There's two options I know of - the first is to restrict access to all the 'other' pages in the Confluence space to the main confluence-user group. To do this:

  • Open a parent page (attached to the root of the space)
  • Click the padlock (above the title)
  • Move the parent page to 'Viewing and editing restricted'
  • Add the 'confluence-user' group to view access
  • Apply

This will hide that tree from the other group. Just to note - view permissions are inherited by child pages, but edit restrictions are not.

The other option I've seen:

  • Move the page tree you want to give the 'confluence-contractors' to the root of the space (i.e your home page is the same level as this page)
  • Add a page restriction to allow both groups to see this page
  • Add a page restriction to your home page (same as above) to restrict access to just the 'confluence-user' group

^ It depends if you need these pages separated from the rest or the restricted group need to see it as part of the hierarchy of pages.
