What ports have you set the applications to run on? I'm afraid we need to ask because the ports are up to your installations, and the best we can do is assume you've used the defaults (8080 and 8090), but even that is guessing that you're using http and not https, and the versions matter, and we don't know which applications are inside or outside your DMZ, and, and, and...
Start with a look at the urls you use to access the two applications though. Do they have port numbers in them? (e.g. the 8881 in http://ourserver:8881). If the urls don't contain ports, then you've got a proxy or DNS trickery locating them, and you should be able to use the raw ports. In other words port 80 for http and port 443 if you're using https
As for the Crowd question - there's plenty of docs on Atlassian's Crowd docs space - what are you looking for specifically when you say "more information"?
