This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Topics

I would to define topics per space.

It is possible to associate a sub-set of all defined topics to a given space in Confluence Questions?

I too would like to do this because some topics are not applicable to the space content. For example, we may have the sales team and IT team using the same Confluence instance but within separate spaces. The topic 'marketing' would not apply to the IT team.
